"Safe, supportive spaces don’t happen by accident. They are built through intentional leadership. As studio owners, that standard starts and ends with us."
Tara Pickford is a studio owner first. She understands that leading a performing arts business goes far beyond the classroom. As the Owner and CEO of Ambition Performing Arts Inc., she has spent over two decades building a studio rooted in strong systems, clear leadership, and an unwavering commitment to creating safe, supportive spaces where students can grow.
Her role as an Industry Business Advisor is grounded in lived experience. Tara has navigated the realities of studio ownership at scale. She has built teams, led through growth, managed complex operations, and held a high standard of care for every child and family who walks through the door. She believes raising the standard in the dance industry requires studio owners to step fully into their role as leaders, not just educators.
Through her consulting work and as the author of Teaching Ambition , Tara equips studio owners with the systems, structure, and leadership required to build sustainable businesses. Businesses where strong operations support exceptional training, and where leadership decisions protect the culture and safety of the community.
Tara brings to ICDR a clear perspective. Excellence in this industry is not defined by performance alone. It is defined by how we lead, how we operate, and how we take responsibility for the environments we create for the next generation.
She is committed to raising the standard of studio ownership across the industry so that every child, in every studio, is supported by leadership they can trust.
