Christine Tavares-D'Angelo

Christine Tavares-D’Angelo is the proud owner and director of Protégé Dance Company in Ajax, Ontario. With over 30 years of teaching experience - including five years in the high school system, ten years as a freelance educator, and 15 years as a studio owner - Christine has earned a strong reputation within the dance community for her integrity, leadership, and commitment to excellence.

She is a fully certified dance educator through Acrobatic Arts, Alixa Flexibility, ADAPT (Jazz & Tap), Cecchetti Canada (Ballet), The British Association of Teachers of Dancing (Acrobatics, Ballet, Stage, & Modern), and is a graduate of Dance Masters of America’s Teacher’s Training School at SUNY Buffalo, New York (Acrobatics, Ballet, Jazz & Tap). Christine is also an active member of Dance Masters of Canada, Chapter #38. 

Since founding Protégé Dance Company in 2010, she has created a studio rooted in strong community values, where dancers are empowered to grow not only in their technique but also as confident, well-rounded individuals. Her holistic approach nurtures the mind, body, and spirit of each student with age-appropriate care and guidance.

Christine takes great pride in her students’ accomplishments in examinations, competitions, and performance opportunities, many of whom have gone on to pursue advanced training and professional careers. Her unwavering dedication to excellence has been recognized through numerous accolades and leadership awards over the years.

As a professional dancer, Christine performed across Canada, the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean, appearing on television, in music videos, on cruise ships, and at theme parks, dinner theatres, casinos, and numerous corporate events. Career highlights include Fashion Cares with MAC Cosmetics featuring Amanda Marshall, David Usher, and Angie Stone (A&E/Bravo); the World Winter Games Opening Ceremonies featuring Susan Aglukark (TSN); serving as Dance Captain for three seasons of the mainstage production at Canada’s Wonderland; and performing as an acrobat, dancer, and singer in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Music of the Night with Norwegian Cruise Lines.

She has choreographed for the Toronto Rock Lacrosse Dance Team, including numerous corporate and charity events, and is currently a choreographer with World Performers Canada Inc. Christine is also a contributor to the Jazzamatazz Costume Catalogue, a founding member of the International Competitive Dancer Registry, and is honoured to serve as an Examiner with the world-class Acrobatic Arts.
